This week’s TOP 5 features news about a battery storage projects in the UK, plans for a large renewables-plus-storage (1GW) in the US, the development of two pumped hydro energy storage in Hawaii, an MoU for storage projects in Papua New Guinea, the acquisition of 190MW/380MWh battery systems in Texas.

  1. Canadian Solar is co-developing 1.5GW/3GWh of battery storage projects in the UK with Windel Energy.
  2. Georgia Power is preparing a draft for Request for Proposals (RFP) to build a 1GW of renewables systems including Storage.
  3. In Hawaii two pumped hydro energy storage (PHES) projects are been developed by Kaua'i Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC), it will help stabilize and reduce electricitly costs.
  4. Gelion has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Mayur Renewables, to supply hundreds of megawatt-hours of battery systems for power projects in Papua New Guinea, starting next year.
  5. Q CELLS has acquired 190MW/380MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Texas.
