Michael Salomon speaks on BESS revenue models at Intersolar 2025
Calendar May 9, 2025

Munich, 7 May 2025 – During this year’s Intersolar Europe, Michael Salomon, CEO of Clean Horizon, was invited to speak at the Equans Solar & Storage stand, where he delivered a compelling presentation on the development of revenue models for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Europe. The session sparked a highly engaging and insightful exchange with attendees, underscoring the growing interest in energy storage economics across the continent.

A key highlight of Michael’s presentation was an in-depth look at Clean Horizon’s Storage Index – a free, monthly benchmark designed to estimate the annualised revenue potential of energy storage assets. The Storage Index leverages real market data from energy, capacity, and ancillary service markets to deliver a realistic, data-driven projection of revenue opportunities.

Each month, Clean Horizon uses the revenue data from the Storage Index and applies a 15-year extrapolation model via its proprietary COSMOS tool, enhanced with internal price forecasts. This methodology provides a comprehensive and transparent view of long-term profitability for storage assets, supporting stakeholders in investment planning and strategic decision-making.

Following Michael’s presentation, Erik Groen contributed additional insights, further enriching the discussion and offering valuable perspectives on the evolving BESS landscape.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Equans Solar & Storage team for their generous invitation and for hosting such a dynamic session. The atmosphere was one of collaboration and innovation – a fitting reflection of the energy transition sector’s momentum.
