Poland’s NFOSiGW Enegy Storage Call: Oversubscribed, now entering the execution phase.

Poland’s large-scale energy storage support program run by NFOŚiGW has delivered one of the clearest signals yet for grid-scale BESS in Central & Eastern Europe.

Florian Didier, our Polish storage market expert, took a closer look at the numbers behind the scheme.

What the numbers tell us:

• Initial target: support designed to cover at least 5.4 GWh of storage by end-2028.
• Market response: over 600 applications submitted.
• Capacity requested: more than 120 GWh (> 20 GW of power).
• Projects awarded: 172 projects selected for support.
• Total portfolio retained: ≅ 3.9 GW and 14.5 GWh awarded.
• Next milestone: funding agreements to be signed, with commissioning required by end-2028.

This highlights two structural signals:

• A deep and mature Polish storage pipeline
• Strong investor conviction in the long-term fundamentals of grid-scale BESS in the region
